Vessel Safety Check
An annual safety inspection of your boat is recommended to make sure you are in compliance with Coast Guard guidelines. This includes determining that mandated equipment, such as lights, life jackets, and visual distress signals, is on board and functioning properly.
To see if your boat is in compliance, call for a Vessel Safety Check. We have five FHYC members who are qualified to conduct these inspections on behalf of the United States Power Squadron or the Coast Guard: Ted Clark, George Maravelas, Karl Mielenhausen, Lloyd Moore, and Bill Neilson. They are also available to answer your questions related to vessel safety. Once they have confirmed that your vessel meets all the requirements, they can then issue you a decal. This will often satisfy the Coast Guard that you are in compliance with safety regulations, and you may avoid random inspections and/or fines.
