Tuesday Fun Racing is enjoyed by everyone from beginners to experts. Some people think that using “fun” and “racing” together is an oxymoron, but come join us and find out for yourself. Beginning at 1700, this race features a unique format that makes it fun for all boats. The typical race begins at 1N and uses fixed marks in the Neuse River. Each race takes around an hour to an hour and a half. There is a splash following the race on the first Tuesday of each month. The series runs from April through October. Contact Peter Budzynkiewicz or Ed Thompson.
Wilkerson Cup Regatta will use an announced format. Racers may need to pick up a designated object at different marks or may need to sail a star pattern, etc. It should be both fun and entertaining for those who want to come out to participate or bring their powerboat and watch. Details are being worked out. More information will be in the Semaphore or contact Barb or Russ Robinson.
The Oar Race Regatta is a distance race of approximately 20 - 22 miles. The Oar Race commemorates the evacuation of Dunkirk, and the perpetual award is an oar used during that historic event. The overall winner will have his or her name added to the perpetual trophy and receive a miniature replica. Contact Georgie Jackson.
All FHYC racing events, with the exception of the Wilkerson Cup, are open races, so please invite sailors you know to participate. Many FHYC racers also participate in local events sponsored by Blackbeard Sailing Club, NYRA, and other Inter-Club Racing Committee organizations. See the FHYC website for schedules and details.
